abrasjon II (2021) for string quartet

Abrasjon II (2021) is one of Anna Berg’s most performed pieces and has been performed by a number of great musicians and string quartets. It was premiered by the Edvard Erdal, Guro Kleven Hagen, Eivind Ringstad and Amalie Stalheim at Norsjø Kammermusikkfest, May 1st, 2021. This performance was featured at Norwegian Radio Broadcasting, NRK Spillerom Søndag and NRK Klassisk.

The piece won the 2. prize in the art competition ANSA Juvenarte in 2023. It was selected by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, NRK Spillerom Søndag, as the Norwegian contribution for the festival International Rostrum of Composers in Beograd 2021. The piece was selected as one of five pieces to represent Norway in the Nordic festival for emerging composers Ung Nordisk Musik (UNM) in Reykjavik, Iceland 2022. 

Other notable performances are by Horus Quartet at Oslo Quartet Series 2021. The same year, Horus Quartet performed the piece once more at the contemporary music festival Ultima.

Sonoro String Quartet performed Abrasjon II at Arctic Chamber Music Festival in Svalbard 2022, and at the Norwegian new music festival INN:PUST in September 2022.
